Associate professor senior Jose R. Vazquez holds an undergraduate degree in environmental design from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master in Architecture from The Ohio State University. His Academic experience consists of eighteen years teaching core courses in Architecture and Interior design. He has guest curated several architectural exhibitions centered on Miami’s historic architecture: A Concrete Presence: The architecture of Miami Dade College 1960-70, Miami Bungalows and Opa Locka Mirage City. He is a thrice recipient of NEH scholar awards and a State of Florida Historic Resources Grant for an educational project on architecture and historical preservation. His academic work aims to achieve advance a disciplinary exchange between architectural design and diverse fields of knowledge, sociology, science, humanities, through the lens of South Florida design environment.
